Today's presentations helped to solidify the capabilities of the Proloquo2go program. We were first divided into two large groups, with subgroups within each large group. Engaging in the process of working together as a team to come up with a common goal to meet the needs of the student was our first step. We then broke into our subgroups and it was very gratifying to see that each subgroup was pretty consistent with the types of issues that they thought through before programming for the student's communication needs. It was also helpful when another perspective we had not considered was provided to us for future reference. What comes to mind for me is whether or not you can somehow back the system up onto another device so that if something happened the program could simply be downloaded onto a new device. I also thought that it would be wise to map out the choices on hard copy so one would not have to start from scratch in the event of loss, theft or malfunction.
Today I had my first introduction to the ITunes site and the possibilities it offers. As an educator I now have a means of shopping for programs based on the individual needs of my students. I assume certain school boards would restrict access to the ITunes site and it is my intention to ask that question of my particular board. I am looking forward to going shopping in the ITunes store. I know I will feel a bit overwhelmed at first by the choices. I will need to learn to focus on what it is I am looking for and then weed out choices until I find the appropriate APP. I look forward to sharing what I find!
